Companionship Services

Every visit is built around the person, not a task list. Here's what that looks like, grouped into four areas.

01

Companionship & Connection

A visit might start with a cup of tea at the kitchen table and a conversation about the news, family, or whatever's on your loved one's mind. From there, it could turn into a game of cards, a jigsaw puzzle, listening to old country records, or paging through a photo album and talking through the memories it brings up. Meals are often shared, not rushed — companionship at the table matters as much as anywhere else. Every visit is personalized, interest-based engagement, built around what the person actually enjoys, not a fixed activity list.

02

Dementia Support

For clients living with dementia or early-onset dementia, visits follow a calm, familiar rhythm rather than a script. That might mean an activity matched to what still brings someone joy and confidence, a quiet walk at a comfortable pace, or simply sitting together with music playing in the background. Every person's journey with dementia is different, so individualized visits are shaped around their abilities and interests that day, using Gentle Persuasive Approach techniques to keep interactions calm and reassuring — and, over time, creating routines that reduce loneliness and confusion.

03

Getting Out & Staying Active

Visits aren't limited to the living room. Depending on the day and the weather, that might mean a walk around the neighbourhood in the morning, an afternoon outing to a favourite local spot, or an evening drive for ice cream. Community outings and daytime trips are planned around what a client can comfortably manage, with plenty of time built in — nothing rushed, nothing overscheduled.

04

Support for Families

Familiar Faces is also here for the family caregiver. A wellness or check-in visit gives you an update on how your loved one is doing and a chance to ask questions, while a scheduled respite visit gives you a genuine break, knowing someone familiar and trained is there. Over time, regular visits build a predictable routine, which for many families is one of the most effective ways to ease anxiety and confusion between visits.
